Love4Literacy 2017 program is back this summer at East Carnegie Library 1102 E Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95116. Rising 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are eligible to participate.

Students will discover new places, learn exciting new things, write and publish their own books!

Free Back Pack, Library Card and Prizes

Students who arrive on time will receive prizes. Students with perfect attendance will receive a free library card, backpack and lunchbox. Only 20 spots available each week.

Code Writing Kids Summer Camp at Hillview Library

This summer, CodeWritingKids is holding a free four-day summer camp at Hillview Branch Library introducing students to programming and writing code! Code interests: HTML, Alice, Video Games, CSS, Tynker, Website Development, Python, Javascript, Animation, Scratch, Mobile Apps. The program is provided by Bay Area Tutoring Association.

The purpose of the CodeWritingKids.com is to introduce students to computer technology, computer science and computer programming and to transform them from consumers and problem creators to producers, solution providers and social innovators. Through the use of tools and history that inspired and framed Silicon Valley innovation, students will be highly engaged in learning the skills of web development, mobile app and video game design.

When: Monday, July 10th, Wednesday July 12th and Friday July 14th and Monday, July 24th, Wednesday July 26th and Friday, July 28th

Intro to Game Development

Dig into game development! Over 6 weekend workshops, student will learn the programming behind video games, and create their own iOS/Android games from scratch.

The course is geared towards students in grades 7-12 at all experience levels. Students are expected to know basic algebra and have some computer literacy (proficient at typing, navigating the web, installing software, etc.)

Students will work with CoronaSDK, a toolkit used by both hobbyists and professionsals. Student will need to bring a Windows or MacOS computer to class.

Intro to Software Engineering Classes

Learn programming in preparation for the AP CS A exam this summer! Over 6 weekend workshops, students will learn Java from an AP approved, aligned curriculum.

The course is geared towards students in grades 7-12 at all experience levels. Students are expected to have taken algebra and have some computer literacy (ie proficient at typing, navigating the web, installing software).

Students will work with the Eclipse IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for developing their Java code.
