April’s Tutor Highlight is Tanushree G!

What program(s) did you work on?:
Eden housing program

Tell us about a time that was especially meaningful for you as a volunteer at BATA?
When I see my students become more confident in the way they approach the subject and improve their scores gradually, it makes my effort look especially meaningful. Math seems to be one of the subjects where students sometimes need extra support and encouragement and it means a lot to me to be able to provide the same.

How did you get involved with BATA?
I was looking for volunteer tutoring opportunities to be able to give back to the society and BATA has helped me with the purpose.

How long have you been a volunteer with BATA?
I have been a volunteer for last 3 months and look forward to continuous engagement.

How have the students responded to you?
I think my students have accepted my ways and methods about the subject. I see them working hard and engaged.

What subject(s) are you passionate about?
Math and Science

What do you enjoy most about tutoring?
In tutoring, the engagement with students and the scope to provide the extra support beyond school and family is very enjoyable.

Why is it important to tutor students?
There are small gaps on topics which need the extra support at times.

How has working with BATA had an impact on you?
I have worked with multiple students in different grades in a short span of time. It gave me a lot of experience about how to handle different levels of understanding and how to explain things in a simpler fashion.

What has been the biggest surprise about volunteering at BATA?
The flexibility in timing and schedule with the students has really surprised me. BATA lets the tutors work out with the students directly which is highly appreciated.

Any words of encouragement for potential volunteers:
Students need the extra support beyond class on little gaps, which they may be even unaware of. If one has the wish to volunteer, seek out the opportunities and I am sure one will learn a lot.

At BATA, tutors are the foundation of the Association and our greatest asset.  Thank you Tanushree for making a difference!
