Bay Area Tutoring Association Partners with Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton College to Elevate High-Impact Tutoring & Tutor Workforce Development Across the SF Bay Area

San Francisco Bay Area, CA – The Bay Area Tutoring Association (BATA) is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation to enhance tutor training and expand high-impact tutoring programs and services throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. High-impact tutor training resources are hosted on the award-winning ASU Community Educator Learning Hub with generous support from Annenberg Learner. This collaboration will allow Bay Area tutors to expand its specialized, online and in-person tutor training best practices into the areas of: the science of reading, executive functioning, child development, and more. 

As a recognized San Francisco Bay Area leader in High-Dosage, High-Impact Tutoring, BATA is working closely with philanthropic organizations, municipalities, institutions of higher education, county offices of education, community based organizations, and school districts to train tutors in the acceleration of learning recovery. This collective impact approach ensures that tutors are equipped with research-based methodologies to help students build foundational skills, develop critical thinking abilities, and achieve academic success.

Empowering Tutors to Drive Educational Opportunity

Through this partnership, tutors will receive structured professional development aligned with ASU’s evidence-based teaching practices in:
Science of Reading – equipping tutors with structured literacy strategies to support struggling readers.
Executive Functioning – helping students develop essential skills like time management, focus, and self-organization.
Online & In-Person Tutoring Best Practices – enhancing tutor effectiveness in both traditional and virtual setting
