Tutor Highlight: Jasmine Nadal on Student Growth, Encouragement, and the Power of Tutoring
After just a few months of tutoring with BATA, Jasmine Nadal has already seen firsthand how meaningful student support and academic encouragement can be — not only for students, but for tutors as well.
Like many BATA tutors, Jasmine originally stepped into the role hoping to help students grow academically. What surprised her most was how impactful the everyday interactions would become: the consistent encouragement, the trust built over time, and the confidence students begin to develop when they feel genuinely supported.
For Jasmine, tutoring is about far more than completing assignments or moving through lessons. It’s about helping students believe in themselves step by step.
“Interacting with the students and helping them grow has been the most meaningful part for me,” Jasmine shared. “Seeing that growth and having those positive interactions really means a lot.”
Building Student Confidence Through Tutoring
Passionate about English and student development, Jasmine says one of the most rewarding parts of tutoring has been watching students improve faster than she expected.
As she became more comfortable with the curriculum and classroom routines, she began to see how intentional academic support, patience, and consistency can make a lasting difference for students at every level.
“The biggest surprise has been seeing how fast students grow,” Jasmine said. “Everything was new to me at first, but after a couple of weeks it became easier, and I could really see how the curriculum helps students at different levels.”
For Jasmine, student growth is not only measured through academics, but also through confidence, communication, and trust.
How Tutoring Impacts Tutors, Too
That sense of growth has extended beyond the students themselves. Jasmine says working with BATA has also had a meaningful personal impact on her life, bringing more positivity and hope into her daily routine.
“It’s made me more hopeful and positive,” she explained. “We’re learning something new together each day, and helping them brings light to my day. I really enjoy it.”
Her experience reflects something many tutors discover over time: tutoring is a shared learning experience. While students build skills and confidence, tutors often grow alongside them through connection, encouragement, and community impact.
Advice for Future Tutors
When asked what advice she would give future tutors, Jasmine emphasized the importance of patience, encouragement, and relationship-building.
“Take your time with students and really build that trust with them,” she said. “At first there’s a lot of explaining and learning routines, but eventually it becomes natural. Once you get comfortable, it really becomes a breeze.”
At BATA, stories like Jasmine’s are a reminder that tutoring is never just about academics. It’s about relationships, consistency, encouragement, and creating supportive spaces where students — and tutors — can grow together.
